DATE FOR 2011 EVENT - Saturday 30 April
Details for 2011 event will be posted as soon as they are available.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this years event. I thought it was the best year yet with record numbers taking part in the 10km event and the new course seemed to be more challenging but also more enjoyable. Results will soon be posted on this site along with a report that was in the local newsletter.
The dance that evening was fantastic; Trail West on top form as usual and a great atmosphere to round off the day. For those visiting Tiree for the first time I hope you enjoyed your island adventure and will be back next year if not sooner.
The date for next years Tiree 10k is going to have to shift to the bank holiday at the start of May as the hall is booked up already for the end of May. Tiree 10k 2011 is therefore on Saturday 30th April 2011!!! Rest assured it will be a great weekend so put it in your diary and I’ll hopefully see you all again in April next year.
Happy training

TIREE'S PREMIER RUNNING EVENT!
DETAILS OF 2010 EVENT
This event is funded by Active Schools, Tiree Fitness Solutions, Baugh Surgery, Concise Aerospace, the Co-op and Chocolates & Charms.
Race Day News 2010
Now in its fifth year, this event has gone from strength to strength, with
205 entries last year - a record for the event. As usual, this year's event includes the Power Push, where local mums push their prams around
a 7km course. The age range of the whole event now spans seven decades!!!
NEW ROUTE FOR 2010 10k
The new course will actually start at Sorobaidh Beach (between Balinoe and Crossapol) and make its way to Hynish. The road is twisty and undulating with spectacular scenery out to sea and over towards Mull.
The course goes right up to, and around, the Hynish Centre before returning back along the road past Island House to return along the
beach to the finish line. So it's an 'out and back' course and obviously it
does involve a beach run again!

THE FAMILY FUN RUN
The Family Fun Run is the length of Crossapol Beach. The finish will be on the beach so please walk back up to An Talla where the chocolate fountain will be waiting!
JUNIOR RUN
The Junior 6km Run starts near the hall and does a loop around Balinoe to finish on the beach.
POWER PUSH
The Power Push is a new event for mums and toddlers. The Push will go from An Talla, past Island House to Chocolates & Charms and back.
Watch out for:
Cattle grids, soft sand, uneven ground: Take your time crossing these
to avoid injury
Single track roads: The roads are open so be considerate of other
users, use the verges to let vehicles pass
Big steep hills: No chance, Tiree is flat so you should have no bother
with these!
The sun: There is one water station at Heylipol Church approximately
half way through the 10k course.
Dehydration: If it is a hot day please be prepared to carry extra water
and wear sun cream
Above all, enjoy the event. There will be goodie bags and medals at the finish and the prize giving will be at approx 4.30pm. There will also be food and drink available at An Talla Cafe.
In the evening I’ve organised a 10k Family Dance with a fully licensed bar. This will raise funds for the local Windsurf Club so please come
along to support this event. All ages are welcome. Come along; dance, relax, meet people. There will be some amazing raffle prizes!!!
